Coffee ED: Cold Brew Vs Ice Coffee
Ice coffee |
If you follow my blogs Instagram, you would have seen me via the stories upset because Panera stopped selling their ice coffee for the season. Now, wait before you say what! I think this is the first time this ever has happened. I know for as long as I can remember that I drank ice coffee all year long. So much that I took for granted that they are a company that does do seasonal changes. Therefore, this should have been expected. |

So this is when I went off because putting ice in hot coffee and not letting it sit does not taste like ice coffee nor is it cold brew. I promised a blog giving the main difference between the two, and well with a little research here we go.
The main difference is that time is on the cold brew side. It steeps in water overnight sometimes more to create the flavor, and no heat is added. Unlike ice coffee, that is brewed first, and then ice is plunged into it. According to Taste of Home ( 2018) and Starbucks ( 2017), that is the main difference other than one steep in water and one is actually brewed coffee then sits in ice. I figured as much when explaining to people that though it is not like cold brew, they have similarities, the cold nature, and the steeping. So what did we take away from this?
If you have any thoughts or comments, please comment below I love to hear what other coffee drinkers have to say.
